RavenFox.com understands that the three retailers are to share new space for duty-paid retail at Palma de Mallorca airport following a tender

RavenFox.com understands that Spanish airport authority AENA has decided the winners of the tender for newly-created duty-paid outlets in Palma de Mallorca airport modules A and D. Sources have confirmed that the new space will be shared between Palma's incumbent retailer Aldeasa, Swiss-based Dufry Group and Spanish catering specialist Areas.

The new space is divided into 20 outlets spanning 2,300sq m (24,750sq ft) and offering a wide variety of products. AENA is expected to announce the exact make-up of the new space shortly.

Last year Palma, situated in the Balearic islands, welcomed 20.4m passengers and is the third-biggest airport in the AENA network, after Madrid Barajas and Barcelona. In recent years an increasing number of the 14.6m international passengers at Palma have used low-cost carriers from Germany, Scandinavia and the UK.
