Dublin airport to expand existing terminal’s retail offer

The €55m ($80.9m) extension to the existing terminal’s north-western corner is subject to planning permission
Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) has announced that work will shortly beginpending planning permissionon a 55m ($80.9m) extension to the existing terminal at Dublin airport. The extension, which will be located at the north-western corner of the terminal, will have additional retail space and a reconfigured check-in area.
The extension is part of a 450m ($662.3m) budget that DAA plans to invest in the airport this year, which includes the continuing works on the new 75,000sq m (807,293sq ft) terminal two, due to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2009 and opened to the public in April 2010.

Dublin is the fastest growing major airport in Europe and the investments that we are making now will deliver the passenger facilities that are required for a capital city airport, according to Collier. He added that the improvements now under way would allow the airport to increase its capacity from 23m to 35m passengers a year.
