Dubai tops daily sales record, anticipates best ever month

Dubai Duty Free set a new daily sales record of Dh4.9m ($1.4m) on October 10 and expects total sales this month to surpass the Dh114m ($31.8m) record set in July.

Dubai Duty Free set a new daily sales record of Dh4.9m ($1.4m) on October 10 and expects total sales this month to surpass the Dh114m ($31.8m) record set in July. Daily sales in October so far have averaged Dh3.95m ($1.1m).

The retailer, which celebrates its 20th anniversary in December, has posted nine-month sales of Dh929m ($259m), representing a 20% increase over the same period last year. In September the company reported sales at Dubai international airport's Sheikh Rashid terminal up 27% over last year, while terminal two sales were 25% above and arrivals sales were 36% above 2002 figures.

Commenting on the new sales records, Mr. Colm McLoughlin, Managing Director said: ?The entire team of staff is excited about achieving new sales records.  We are expecting to finish the year with sales in excess of Dh1.25bn ($350m).?
