Dubai hits Dh1bn target

Dubai Duty Free has announced that sales for the year to date have reached Dh1bn ($273m) two weeks ahead of forecast, and are likely to finish the year with 20% year-on-year sales growth

Despite the depressed travel market, sales have been strong across all categories at the airport, with an average of 18,000 transactions per day.

Dubai Duty Free managing director Colm McLoughlin, expressed satisfaction with the result, saying: "We had set an ambitious target for the year and are delighted to have achieved that target way ahead of schedule. I would like to thank all of our customers and staff for helping us to achieve such tremendous sales results and look forward to even greater success next year."

President of the Department of Civil Aviation Dubai and Chairman of Emirates Group Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum congratulated Dubai Duty Free on its success. "This is a great achievement for the operation and one which sets a new benchmark for the region."
