DDF managing director Colm McLoughlin said: ?January sales have been tremendous and are a good indicator for the year ahead. The buoyant start to the year, which began with the announcement of record annual sales of Dhs1.37bn ($373m) for 2003, looks set to continue into 2004.?

DDF cited gold, fragrances and electronics as strong performers in 2004 so far. With sales of Dh17m ($4.63m), gold accounted for 12% of total sales, and fragrances and electronics both posted sales of Dh16m ($4.36m).
