Dubai adds to anniversary celebrations

4-Dec-2003

After announcing that it will donate all the sales on its 20th anniversary to charity, Dubai Duty Free is hoping to encourage higher sales with a 20% discount on many products on December 20

Dubai Duty Free is to offer a 20% discount on over 15,000 duty-free products when it celebrates its 20th anniversary on December 20. The discount will coincide with the retailer's anniversary charity drive, in which all sales generated on December 20 will be donated to local charities.

Dubai Duty Free managing director Colm McLoughlin said he hoped that the discount will encourage higher spending and more money for charity. "In addition to marking our anniversary by proving local charities with the proceeds of our daily sales, we decided to say a big thank you to all of our customers who have supported Dubai Duty Free over the years. We felt a 20% discount would be an effective way of doing that. "

The Christmas period traditionally generates high sales for the company and McLoughlin is hoping the anniversary day will break the existing daily sales record of Dhs5.8m ($1.58m) achieved on October 24 this year.
