Passenger growth at Dubai International airport continues to boost duty-free sales
Sales at Dubai Duty Free are up 38% compared to the period January to mid-August last year as the retailer targets a year-end revenue total of $500m for 2004.
Managing director Colm McLoughlin told DFNI: "Everything is very positive, from traffic to sales trends, and we're planning ahead for our next phase of growth now too."
Dubai International airport handled 18m passengers in 2003, and expects 21m this year.
First half sales at Dubai Duty Free rose to $236m, representing a 43% increase over the same period last year. This followed a 45% increase in the first quarter.
The growth is led by fragrances, gold and electronics sales.
