Dubai Duty Free on course for Dhs1bn

Nine-month sales of Dhs774m ($215m) have put Dubai Duty Free firmly on course to achieve full-year sales of Dhs1bn ($280m) for the first time

Sales to date this year are 15% ahead of last year. Electronics was among the strongest growth categories, with sales of $24m for the first nine months, up 19%.

Dubai Duty Free managing director Colm McLoughlin said: "Electronics goods, which include mobile telephones, computers and audio visual equipment, continue to show a steady increase due to a number of factors, including competitive pricing and an increase in demand for high-tech products."

Gold is still the operator's leading category. Other sectors showing increases were fragrances, up 15% and confectionery, also up 15%.
