13-Feb-2004

The Swiss watches and sunglasses retailer and travel-retailer supplier has acquired gifts retailer Dolmetsch, including two stores at Zurich International airport

Niclas is to adopt a new role as a travel retailer after acquiring Zurich-based gifts and pocket-knives retailer Dolmetsch. Niclas?which already runs watch and sunglasses outlets in Switzerland and supplies to the travel-retail market?has bought the company's 11 retail outlets, including stores at Zurich airport terminals A and B, from multi-sector retailer Valora for an undisclosed sum with retrospective effect from January 1.

The deal offers good synergies with Niclas' existing retail business, watch&see, as well as broadening the company's product portfolio, which already includes watches from Wenger, CAT and Camel Active, sunglasses from Burberry, Gucci and Diesel and Wenger Swiss Army knives.
