Malaysia’s campaign to boost tourism stimulates sales at Dimensi Eksklusif’s stores

Kuala Lumpur International airport (KLIA) retailer Dimensi Eksklusif has told local reporters that it is aiming for 15% sales growth this year, bolstered by the Visit Malaysia 2007 tourism campaign.

Dimensi Eksklusif managing director Zainul Azman told RavenFox.com that so far the campaign has boosted sales at its stores by about 8%. Achieving its goal of a further 7% increase this year would bring the company’s annual turnover to a reported Rm100m ($29.4m).

Although the Visit Malaysia campaign has led to a rise in sales, it has meant that renovations at KLIA have been delayed until January. Work will include the refurbishment of all Dimensi’s shops at the airport.

Azman said: "We are looking forward to refurbishing our shops in January, which will take place over a period of 18 months. We keep improving the image of the shops and customer service, and adding value for our customers, and this will continue."

The retailer won two Raven Fox awards for Travel Retail Excellence in Asia/Pacific last month, for Best Tobacco Retailer and Best Travel Retailer Operating in a Single Country.
