Diageo's long-standing duty-free managing director will be replaced by Ron Anderson, currently executive vice-president of global customer development and commercial strategy, when he steps down next year

Diageo Global Duty Free managing director Vince Horne is to retire on January 14 next year. Horne has led the duty-free business of the world's leading liquor company since 1996, when the company was known as United Distillers. He joined Guinness in 1985 after years of service in the tobacco industry.

Horne will be replaced by Ron Anderson from January 1 2005. Anderson is currently executive vice-president of global customer development and commercial strategy for Diageo in North America. He oversaw the creation and implementation of the company's Next Generation Growth strategy in the region.
