Diageo's Ron Anderson to address Symposium

Diageo's global duty-free head signals firm support for January's Asia/Pacific Travel Partnership Symposium

Diageo has placed its commitment firmly behind the Asia/Pacific Travel Partnership Symposium with the confirmation that managing director global duty free Ron Anderson will provide a keynote address on day two of the proceedings.

The event, in collaboration with the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) and supported by the Asia Pacific Travel Retail Association (APTRA), will be held on January 24-26 in Macau at the new signature resort by Steve Wynn (opening August 2006).

In his presentation, "Breaking out of the store: The Brand Perspective", Anderson explores ways in which brand companies could partner with hotel groups to enhance the experience for international guests.

Anderson joins an already powerful lineup of senior executives from the wider travel and tourism and travel-retail industries for this inaugural event—the first of its kind to connect both industries. Our research findings from a database of over 30,000 interviews with consumers travelling through airports across the world demonstrated to us how useful it would to unite the two industries in one event to discuss how they can better serve different travelling nationalities—and subsequently maximise revenues—through partnership and information sharing.

Information sharing and partnership opportunities form the foundations of the programme, which features hoteliers, resorts, internet booking companies, tour operators, airports, airport retailers, brand owners, airlines and national tourism organisations. By attending delegates will gain an enhanced understanding of how companies in the travel chain can work together to drive sales in their respective businesses by improving and fine-tuning the offer to consumers.
