The fashion and accessories shops in the satellite building will be operated by local partner Perniagaan Wafada Sdn Bhd

Spanish fashion brand Desigual is to open its first shops in Malaysia in the satellite building at Kuala Lumpur International airport (KLIA). The brand will open two shops, one for women’s clothes and another for accessories including bags, belts, hats and scarves. The two outlets will be operated by Desigual’s local partner Perniagaan Wafada Sdn Bhd.

Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd senior general manager commercial services division Puan Faizah Khairuddin said: “Over the past year, Malaysia Airports has been successful in attracting some of the most coveted brand names particularly to KLIA. What makes it even more satisfying is the fact that KLIA is the first destination for many of these brands, taking precedence over downtown malls. This speaks volumes about our efforts to position our airports as lifestyle destinations.”

Perniagaan Wafada Sdn Bhd managing director Tuan Haji Md Idris Ab Aziz added: “As Desigual’s local partner, we are of the opinion that KLIA provides the brand with a highly-visible and strategic entry point to the country and beyond. Hence the decision to set up two unique stores in KLIA offering Asian travellers the best of the Desigual Experience.”

The outlet is the brand’s second travel-retail store in the Asia/Pacific region following the opening of a 90sq m outlet at Singapore Changi airport terminal three earlier this year.
