Designer names boost Heathrow T3 fashion drive

18-Jul-2002

The opening of several new designer boutiques reinforces BAA's drive to make fashion the centrepiece of its retail offer at London Heathrow terminal three

The latest brands to be introduced include Hugo Boss, Pringle, Paul Smith and Folli Follie.

The 630sq ft (58sq m) Pringle store is the company's first. Its flagship London downtown store opens later this year. The new shop stocks men's and women's cashmere tops as well as a range of accessories exclusive to the airport market.

The 837sq ft (78sq m) Paul Smith store is its first at an airport. It sells menswear and will add womenswear plus a selection of watches and pens in the autumn. The shop design takes a travel theme with the walls decked out in maps of the world.

Hugo Boss already has two stores at Heathrow T1 and Gatwick South and has just opened a new 637sq ft (59sq m) store in T3.
A new Folli Follie store next to Pringle also offers a range of accessories for travellers.

As well as these new openings, Escada plans a new store in T3 this month. It already operates one store in T4. Also new in T3 is a Caviar House Seafood Bar.

BAA UK retail director Colin Hargrave said: 'The new stores were chosen to match the profile of customers passing through terminal three. Existing luxury brands such as Gucci, Cartier and Bvlgari cater for the top end of the market but we felt there was room for other retailers who would appeal to frequent travellers, leisure and business, and in particular the strong Japanese, American and Canadian passengers.'
