Delta Air Lines has confirmed that it has awarded incumbent Diplomatic Supplies Canada (DSC) a new long-term contract to operate its inflight duty-free concession.

Delta general manager international products & services Linda Eller said: "Delta Air Lines is very pleased with the result of its recent sourcing initiative. Diplomatic Supplies was chosen after a rigorous selection process. DSC has an excellent history of performance operating the Delta duty-free programme, and a clear vision for the future supported by an excellent marketing strategy."

DSC vice-president marketing Tony Detter said: "Delta continues to challenge our company and themselves for innovations to grow the programme. The industry will see us expand the current base of the business and offer some new, very unique products and services to our customers over the next year."

He added: "You'll see changes immediately with the introduction of our new inflight programme on May 1. Delta will offer the very best of traditional duty-free along with exclusive US launches from some younger, innovative companies just entering the travel-retail market."
