Travel retailer Dufry Group is to propose the addition of Julián Díaz González as new board member at its annual general meeting on April 30. His appointment would join those of the seven board members already elected or proposed for re-election. Díaz González will retain his current role as chief executive officer.

The retailer recently registered strong double-digit growth in 2012, with turnover up 19.6% to SFr3.15bn ($3.37bn). Díaz said: “Our strategy, which we have been implementing for the last eight years, remains unchanged going forward: we continue to focus on profitable growth and on cash generation, developing the company in emerging markets and tourist destinations.”

Dufry currently operates more than 1,000 stores in 43 countries.
