New terminal will host first PC World airport store
Electronics retailer DSG International (DSGi) has announced plans to open its first PC World airport store at London Heathrow terminal five. The company will also open three Dixons shops at the airports newest terminal, which is set to open in March 2008. Products stocked at both outlets will be aimed specifically at travellers, although customers will have the choice of purchasing items tax-free in-store or having them delivered at the recommended retail price.
DSGi already runs 25 Dixons Tax Free outlets at UK airports. The Dixons fascia was taken off the high street last year to become available exclusively online and in travel-retail. DSGi managing director of airport retail Andrew Milliken said: T5 will house the largest concentration of passengers in Europeall under one roof. This provides us with a unique opportunity to make a significant step forward in our customer proposition and to segment our store offer to better serve the specific passenger needs in this single airline terminal.
BAA Retail product director for media and telecoms Duncan Tolson added: We are delighted that Dixons Tax Free and PC World have been signed to T5. By developing unique store concepts and creating an experiential shopping environment, all four stores will be setting an exceptional benchmark for airport retailing in the 21st century.
