DFS opens Japan's first downtown duty-free store

DFS Group opened a downtown Galleria store on the island of Okinawa in Japan on December 15. Measuring 13,000sq m (140,000sq ft) and situated in the island's capital Naha, the outlet is the first downtown duty-free store to open in the country and was established under the Law on Special Measures for the Promotion and Development of Okinawa. DFS said it is offering shoppers several items exclusive to the company alongside a wide assortment of luxury goods.
Fashion brands Bvlgari, Cartier, Celine, Coach, Chopard, Dior, Fendi, Salvatore Ferragamo, Montblanc, Tiffany & Co and Tods all feature in the store, as do beauty brands including Chanel, Clinique and La Mer.
Okinawa is a popular holiday destination for Japanese travellers. DFS already operates duty-free at Naha airport on the island.
