DFNI Charity Ball total reaches £40,000
Extra fundraising boosts total by a further £5,000
The total raised by the DFNI Bollywood Ball in aid of the Lotus Flower Trust has reached £40,000 ($59,260).
The original £35,000 raised has been boosted by additional fundraising activities held on behalf of the charity, including a sponsored half-marathon completed by DFNI’s own liquor & wines editor Joe Bates, who completed the race in two hours 16 minutes.
The sum raised will go to the trust to build and equip a school for children of the village of Patrani in the Corbett National Park in the foothills of the Himalayas in India.
The original sum was raised at the annual DFNI Charity Ball at the end of February and reflects the generosity of the travel-retail industry. World Duty Free and Aldeasa business relations and external affairs director Sarah Branquinho, who nominated the charity, told DFNI she would like to thank all those who donated prizes and money.
Pictures from the event are available at DFNIonline.com. All contributions will go directly to the Lotus Flower Trust. Anyone who wishes to donate to the charity may also contribute at this address: http://www.justgiving.com/lotusflower.
