The owner of Buenos Aires Ezeiza airport authority AA2000 secures the 11-year management concession for the airport and its duty-free shop

Corporación América has acquired the concession rights for Punta del Este airport until 2019. The company, which already owns 90% of Buenos Aires Ezeiza airport authority Aeropuertos Argentina 2000, will take over the management of the  concession from incumbent consortium Consorcio Aeropuertos Internacionales CAISA, comprising Uruguayan firms Incot and Norlit, Paxport Laguna from Canada, the World Bank’s International Finance Corporation and Argentinian retailer London Supply.

In 2000, 300,000 passengers used Punta del Este airport. Although this figure has since fallen dramatically due to the regional economic crisis and the Argentinian devaluation, local aviation experts have indicated that traffic at the airport will reach 300,000 again by 2010.

Local sources have told RavenFox.com that Corporación América has purchased all contracts operated under CAISA, including the duty-free retail concession with London Supply, and will take over the management of all concessions in early 2008.
