Copenhagen Airports announces 12.4% rise in commercial revenues for first six months of the year
Copenhagen Airports interim report has shown a rise of 12.4% in commercial revenues, for the first six months of the year. It raises the total figure to DKr424.5m ($73.4m).
Of that figure, revenue from Copenhagen Airport shopping centre was DKr265.4m ($45m), representing an increase of 9.4% against the first six months of 2005.
The airport said: "The increase in revenues from the shopping centre was due to new commercial offerings within retail and food and beverage to better meet the different demands and to service the growing number of departing passengers travelling on economy-class or low-cost tickets without access to airport lounges or inflight meal services."
Passenger figures rose 6.3% to 10m with four new airlines operating from the airport and seven new routes opening. "The growth in passenger numbers for European and Nordic destination was supported by SAS' far reductions and one-way concept," the airport said. "The fall in passenger numbers to intercontinental destinations concerned destinations in the Middle East and was affected by the Mohammed cartoons."
