Copenhagen Airports posts 12% increase in revenue in 2006

Copenhagen Airports recorded a 12% rise in revenue in 2006. The airport authority attributed this mainly to growth in retail sales, which increased by 14.1% to DKr881.4m ($153.5m) last year. Shopping centre revenues rose by 8.5% to DKr538.2m ($93.8m).

The authority said the rise in sales was due to an increase in passenger numbers and to the opening of new shops, bars and restaurants that cater better for passengers.

Renovations are now under way at Copenhagen Kastrup airport, where retail space is set to be expanded from just under 10,000sq m (107,600sq ft) to almost 16,000sq m (172,160sq ft).
