Concession fees waived at Dallas

Dallas Fort Worth airport offers terminal D tenants two rent-free months following American Airlines delay
Cash-strapped concessionaires at Dallas Fort Worth International airport may not have to pay rent for two months until the end of October. According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram the airport intends to waive about $3.25m in rent and fees for all 59 concessionaires in terminal D.
The move follows the three-month
delay to
American Airlines' introduction to terminal D, which store operators were relying on to increase passenger numbers. Tenants expect American Airlines' arrival to boost traffic from about 4,200 to 13,500 passengers daily. About half the terminal's stores have not been able to open because of low passenger traffic.
The airport said that it expects to lose a maximum of $3m in revenue by waiving rent in
the
terminal. A further
$250,000 will be lost as
a
result of waiving fees for the new bus system carrying airport workers from the employee car parks to the terminal.
Some terminal D concessionaires have said that even though they cannot recoup the lost revenue from the last couple of months, the rent abatements are fair.
