Commonwealth Games store to open at Manchester airport
With just over 300 days to go until the opening of the Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games, the flagship store and merchandise launch officially took place at the Arndale Centre, Manchester this week
The 1,600sq ft(149sq m) store will be the first of three Commonwealth Games stores in Manchester. Others will open later in September at Manchester airport and the Trafford Centre. Games merchandise will also be available across the UK via a range of retail and high street outlets.
The Games' commercial manager, Jason Harborow, commented: "We have worked hard to develop an attractive range and have some excellent licensees on board. The shop will provide Manchester people with an opportunity to purchase the products first."
Retail outlets are being managed by official-merchandise.co.uk, a subsidiary of the TSM Group. TSM has also been the retail licensee for other sporting bodies and events such as the FA Cup, Charity Shield, Manchester United, Millennium Stadium, Welsh Rugby Union, England Rugby Union, British & Irish Lions, Honda Motor Sport, UK Athletics and the British Olympic Association.
