The former group retail director at BAA joins the designer outlet developer as non-executive director

Former BAA group retail director Brian Collie has joined retail outlet designer McArthurGlen as non-executive director. Collie left BAA in March last year and since then has held senior roles with Lastminute.com, Jurys Doyle Hotels and Presentable.

McArthurGlen chairman JW Kaempfer said: "Brian's unique experience at BAA, Lastminute.com and other businesses in the hotel and media sectors dovetails superbly with our current and future goals. Continued quality expansion is the cornerstone of our business strategy and Mr Collie's exceptional knowledge of the retail, tourism and travel markets will help us access new territories and roll out new initiatives for our brand partners."

Collie added: "These are exciting times for the retail and property industries. I am looking forward to playing my part in helping McArthurGlen develop and expand its business across Europe and beyond into new territories and new formats."

Collie previously sat on the McArthurGlen board from 1997 to 2002 when BAA was involved in a joint venture with the retail developer. This was dissolved in August 2002 as part of BAA's drive to divest non-core businesses (DFNI September 1 2002).

McArthurGlen operates 14 retail centres across the UK, France, Holland, Austria and Italy, covering 300,000sq m (3.2msq ft) of commercial space.
