The confectionery specialist wins an extension until 2011 and agrees new promotions with Paton's

Kuala Lumpur International airport (KLIA) retailer Chocolate Sales & Supplies (CS&S) has secured a five-year extension to its contract at the airport. The confectionery specialist will now operate at KLIA until 2011 and plans to open a new store at the location in March.

CS&S marketing manager Shereen Lau said: "We are delighted to be awarded this extension and welcome the opportunity to surpass our existing operations in both scope and flair. Customers passing through the airport will soon experience the crème de la crème of retail design and be tantalized by promotions that excite all the senses. We feel that it is important to create an atmosphere of fun within the confectionery category and our sales figures clearly support this vision."

As part of the retailer's programme of promotions, it has reached an agreement with Australian supplier Paton's Macadamias to continue the companies' joint Archway promotion for a further six months. Since September the initiative has generated a sales increase of 30%, driven in part by the launch of Paton's new Macadamia Sensations box.

Paton's business manager Asia/Pacific, Indian sub-continent and southern Africa Chris Gray said: "Over the past five years the Archway promotion has been one of our big success stories in terms of increasing sales as well as building brand awareness for Paton's. In addition, the bright and colourful images on the Archway attract the attention of passers-by, which in turn leads to an increased penetration rate into the store. This is the perfect example of a joint promotion where there is a win-win situation for not only the supplier and the retailer, but also for the confectionery category as a whole."

Paton's has agreed to develop a range of new souvenir boxes exclusively for CS&S, building on the supplier's destination merchandise offer.
