China opens Hainan skies in tourism drive

As revealed in DFNI eXTRA (July 16), the holiday island of Hainan off the southwest coast of China is to become a testing ground for visa-free arrivals and open skies for airlines in a bid by the Chinese government to compete with the resorts of Bali in Indonesia and Phuket in Thailand.
