Over 500 delegates are expected to attend the first ever China Travel Retail Summit, to be held in Beijing on May 16-17. This includes senior officials from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), the China National Tourism Administration, the Customs General Administration of PRC plus other government officers.

Additionally, almost 200 international visitors have registered for the landmark event. They are joined by shop managers and executives from duty-free stores around China; 20 of China's leading television, radio and newspaper organisations; 15 special guests, including representatives from the Shenzhen and Zhuhai free zones; and senior management from several leading airport authorities, including Beijing and Shanghai.

Also, up to 20 Chinese suppliers are also expected, plus a big contingent from the China Duty Free Group.

Two keynote international speakers will appear. The retail address is from Nuance Australia and Asia/Pacific ceo John Moore. And the Swatch Group head of travel-retail international Frank Furlan will deliver an address entitled "China: A Timeline".

The Summit also includes the first China Duty Free Group retail awards and a number of product showcases displaying international and Chinese brands. The social programme includes the Gala Dinner at the Great Wall of China.
