The retailer has opened nine shops totaling 1,000sq m at the third busiest airport in China after signing a five-year contract there last year

China Duty Free Group (CDFG) has begun its operations at Guangzhou New Baiyun International airport after signing a five-year contract there in October 2007. The retailer opened nine stores covering 1,000sq m (10,760sq ft) on April 15.

The offer includes six stand-alone fashion boutiques from Ferragamo, Bally, Dunhill, Shanghai Tang, Tumi and Furla as well as a watches and jewellery store (pictured), a fashion and accessories store and a flagship fragrances and cosmetics store. Brands featured in the beauty store include Chanel, Christian Dior, Lancôme, La Prairie, Estée Lauder, Clinique and Biotherm.

CDFG said that the Canton Fair and Beijing Olympic Games to be held this year would represent a big opportunity for its new venture at Guangzhou, saying the opening at China’s third busiest airport marked a big step in its travel-retail business.
