China's dominant duty-free retailer and the leading Asian online travel company lend their weight to the first Asia/Pacific Travel Partnership Symposium

China's dominant travel retailer China Duty Free Group (CDFG) and Asia Pacific's leading online travel company Zuji are to join the powerful line-up of speakers at the forthcoming Asia/Pacific Travel Partnership Symposium. The event, organized by Raven Fox in collaboration with the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) and supported by the Asia Pacific Travel Retail Association (APTRA), will be held on January 24-26 in Macau at the new signature resort by Steve Wynn. CDFG director travel-retail/assistant general manager Charles Chen will take part in an interactive panel debate on the 2008 Olympics effect on the travel-retail and tourism industries in China. The session, to be chaired by PATA strategic intelligence director John Kowdolwski and featuring speakers from China National Tourism Association and Beijing Capital International Airport, will consider how partnership can play a vital role in optimising revenues and the experience for travelling consumers in the run up to and beyond the Games.

Meanwhile, Zuji CEO Scott Blume will take his seat on the panel session entitled "Book, Shop and Spa: connecting the Key stakeholders", where the Travelocity-owned online company will discuss how online travel agencies, retailers and hotel/spas can work together to promote their respective services to travellers.

Readers of TTG travel magazines from across 17 countries in the region voted Zuji Best Online Travel Agent in Asia/Pacific.

Chen and Blume join an already powerful lineup of senior executives from the wider travel and tourism and travel-retail industries for this inaugural event - the first of its kind to connect both industries.

Information sharing and partnership opportunities form the foundations of the programme, which features hoteliers, resorts, internet booking companies, tour operators, airports, airport retailers, brand owners, airlines and national tourism organisations. By attending delegates will gain an enhanced understanding of how companies in the travel chain can work together to drive sales in their respective businesses by improving and fine-tuning the offer to consumers.

Diageo Global Duty Free and Solar Style are the latest brand companies to support the Symposium by becoming gold and co-sponsors respectively.
