The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) has launched a promotional campaign to build on strong electronics sales at Singapore Changi airport.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) has launched a promotional campaign to build on strong electronics sales at Singapore Changi airport. ?Changi Digital Connection? comprises a range of discounts, presentations and competitions on electrical goods to run between September 9 and October 5 at Changi, which reported a 12% sales growth in the category over 2002.

The campaign will showcase the latest digital imaging, wireless technology and lifestyle products, with interactive demonstrations of digital cameras, personal digital assistants and home cinema systems. All passengers will have the opportunity to take part in a digital photography competition, and those spending over $50 on electonics will be entered into a draw for prizes worth up to $20,000.

"While most airports focus largely on liquor and tobacco, and perfumes and cosmetics, Changi is unique as it is also strong in digital imaging, computers and electronics equipment,? said CAAS director-general Wong Woon Liong. ?Besides having the widest range among airports in the Asia Pacific region, air travellers can also find the latest models available in the market in Changi. This technology roadshow will reinforce Changi's position as a leader in this product category among Asia/Pacific airports"

Electronics is the third best-selling category at Changi, according to CAAS.
