Changi launches gift delivery service

29-Nov-2002

Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and courier company DHL have teamed up at Changi airport to offer air express delivery of purchases made in all departures and transit shops

A first for the region, the service is designed primarily for delivery of gifts destined for somewhere other than the passenger's next stop. It has just gone on trial and will continue through the Christmas period until February 28 2003. Shoppers receive a 30% discount on the normal shipping cost.

The new service will allow for larger duty-free purchases, according to CAAS air cargo division head Foo Sek Min.

"This new service will be a win-win for both shoppers and retailers in the airport. Our retailers will be able to sell products that were previously not practical due to restrictions by airlines on what can be brought on board the aircraft," he said.
