Key concessions available at facility due to open in early 2006

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) today (October 11) called tenders for many of the key concessions at Singapore Changi airport's new low-cost terminal, which opens in early 2006.

On offer are a general merchandise concession, a gifts concession and a chocolate/candy/delicatessen store in departures. Yesterday the CAAS called tenders for a multi-brand sports concession, also in departures.

Each of the contracts begins on February 1 2006 and lasts for three years. Closing dates for bids are between October 31 and November 4.

Retail space in the new terminal will cover about 3,000sq m (32,290sq ft). The terminal will have capacity for 2.7m passengers a year. CAAS has said the emphasis will be on offering the most popular product categories but with a wider selection of mid-priced concession to facilitate quick decision-making and impulse shopping.

Given the importance of catering in a low-cost passenger terminal, a number of branded food and beverage concessions are also on offer.
