Raymond Lim greets arriving passengers at Changi T3Singapore Changi airport terminal three has officially begun its scheduled flight operations today. Passengers on board the first flight arrival from San Francisco were greeted by Minister for Transport Raymond Lim and Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) officials.

CAAS also launched a shopping promotion at all three terminals until February 29 in which travellers and airport visitors will have a chance to win travel packages worth S$10,000 ($6,983) or a cash prize equivalent to three times the amount they spend on shopping. The S$1.75bn ($1.22bn) terminal has over 100 stores and 40 food and beverage outlets, and over a third of retailers at T3 are new to Changi airport.

Lim said: "I am delighted that T3 has now come to fruition. [This] opening marks a significant milestone for Changi airport as it will increase its total annual capacity to about 70m passenger movements, enhancing its position as the regional aviation hub."
