Aer Rianta International’s (ARI) Runway Duty Free operation at Moscow Domodedovo has opened a temporary “pop-up” Chanel outlet designed to address demand from Russia travellers
Aer Rianta Internationals (ARI) Runway Duty Free operation at Moscow Domodedovo has opened a temporary pop-up Chanel outlet to entice high-spending Russian travellers at the airport. The 60sq m (646sq ft) store, which showcases Chanels cosmetics, fragrances and skincare offer, was installed in only four weeks and will be present at the airport for only eight weeks.
ARI regional general manager John Moriarty said the concept was created by Runway and Chanel with Russian passengers in mind, and showed the brands commitment to the Russian market and its understanding of the leading position that Domodedovo airport has, not just among the airports in Moscow, but in Eastern Europe.
The idea for the store came from a 230sq m (2,474sq ft) temporary store in downtown Moscow late last year, said Moriarty. Once wed seen it we wanted to do the same in Domodedovo. Thanks to the Chanel team both in Paris and in Moscow, we were able to agree to do the project, have it built and installed within a four-week period. The results so far have been very impressive and the store has proved to be a star attraction at the airport.
The store will host make-up artists and skincare experts to give advice to passengers. It was opened last weekend (July 21-22).
