The airline is teaming up with the Australian jewellery supplier on a new prize promotion as part of Cathay's anniversary celebrations

As part of a new promotion, Cathay Pacific Airways is giving away a 0.6ct Toscow diamond to celebrate the airline's 60th anniversary. Passengers will be given one prize draw coupon for every HK$1,000 ($129) spent between July 1 and September 15 and will be entered into the Dazzling Diamond Lucky Draw.

The diamond is valued at HK$38,000 ($4,900) and the winner will be announced on September 18. A prize-giving ceremony will be held at a later date.

Cathay Pacific inflight sales and logistics manager Cindy Lam said: "What better way to celebrate our diamond anniversary than to give a beautiful diamond? Our lucky draw will add sparkle to our inflight shopping experience."

The promotion follows a similar initiative carried out by Cathay and confectionery supplier Goldkenn earlier in the year. The supplier inserted a 24ct gold bar inside every 20 boxes of Goldkenn chocolates sold between January 1 and March 31. By the end of the promotion winning passengers had received a total of 1.25kg of gold.
