Carrasco set for December result

URUGUAY. The four bidders for the duty-free concession at Montevideo Carrasco airport are awaiting a final decision by mid-December. Neutral, Operadora de Aero-Boutiques, Brasif and Aldeasa have submitted technical bids, now being analysed by a committee set up by the Uruguayan Ministry of Defence.

(7-Nov-2001) - URUGUAY. The Uruguayan Ministry of Defence has received four bids for the eight-year duty-free concession at Montevideo Carrasco airport. As DFNI went to press, the government was studying technical bids from local incumbent Neutral, Mexico?s Operadora de Aero-Boutiques, Brasif and Aldeasa. Financial bids?believed to be the clinching factor?are expected within a week.

(15-Jan-2002) - URUGUAY. Incumbent operator Neutral has won the eight-year contract to operate duty-free at Montevideo Carrasco airport, sources close to the bidding told DFNI. Victory in the bid was crucial for Neutral, whose operation at Carrasco is the cornerstone of the business. Spanish company Aldeasa came closest to matching Neutral?s bid, offering $13.55m.
