Cargo crews boost business for Helitrade

Slovakian operator's recently opened cargo port shop in Bratislava is playing an increasingly important role in the business.

Helitrade's recently opened cargo port shop in Bratislava is performing well, and playing an increasingly important role in the business. The store was opened in August this year, for the exclusive use of crews of cargo ship working the Danube.

Helitrade director Eva Svecova told TRW that business at the store was growing steadily, and now accounted for 12% of the company's total turnover. ?The shop is situated in a closed area of Bratislava cargo port where activities like handling and maintenance are carried out,? she said. ?The main reason we decided to establish the shop was to facilitate, simplify and make more effective supply to cargo ship crews that often are forced to restock in the centre of town.?

The dominant categories at the store are tobacco and liquor. Svecova said that the increasing levels of domestic taxation on cigarettes and alcohol in Slovakia made the shop very attractive to visiting crews. She added:  ?We expect the business to continue to be positive, and a growing trend for the sale of cigarettes and cheap alcohol to crews.?
