Cannes conference to celebrate twenty years of travel-retail
Speakers including BAA's Brian Collie will look to the past and future in the twentieth year of the TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes
The TFWA World Exhibition Conference, the curtain-raiser to this year's exhibition in
Cannes, will open at
9.30 am
on Monday October 18 in the Palais des Festivals. The theme, Celebrating the Past, Embracing the Future, is a retrospective of industry history from the first event in 1985 through to the present day and beyond.
Speakers at the conference will include outgoing BAA retail director Brian Collie, Visa International president and CEO Christopher Rodrigues and TFWA president Erik Juul-Mortensen.
Collie will discuss The Path Travelled, The Road Ahead, a review of where the industry has been, where it is going and why it can face the future with confidence.
In his address Travel & Retail: A Vision of the Future, Christopher Rodrigues will highlight the opportunities created by new payment technologies and profile the travelling consumer of tomorrow, providing insights into new market growth and trends in spending.
Juul-Mortensen, who has been involved with the
Cannes
event since its inception, will provide a commentary on the current state of the travel-retail industry, addressing events of the previous year and critical issues facing the trade.
As the conference closes, M. Bernard Brochand, Mayor of Cannes, will cut the ribbon and officially open the 20th TFWA World Exhibition.
