The continued improvement in retail quality on the Canadian border was dramatically underlined at last night's DFNI-sponsored Gold Standard Awards, the culmination of the annual Frontier Duty Free Association convention.

At the gala evening ceremony on Sunday night, seven of Canada's duty-free land border retailers landed Platinum Awards-the new category introduced this year for retailers achieving the highest standards of excellence across the year.

The awards are judged on over 120 criteria, by a combination of independent assessors and Mystery Shoppers.

The Platinum winners were:

1       Aldergrove
2       Heritage
3       Huntingdon
4       Osoyoos
5       Peace Bridge
6       Thousand Islands
7       Windsor Tunnel

Gold Awards went to:

1       DFS Ventures
2       Niagara DF
3       Pac Can
4       Sault Ste. Marie
5       West Coast
6       Woodstock

For full results, including Silver, Bronze and Red Maple Leaf winners, see DFNI's special November 15 report, out soon.
