The fifth busiest international airport in Australia is seeking expressions of interest in a range of retail and service concessions

Cairns International airport is looking for experienced retail partners to operate a range of speciality retail, news and books, catering, bank and foreign exchange and tourist service concessions across its international and domestic terminals. The airport said it is looking for companies to "enhance the visitor experience of Cairns airport and tropical north Queensland through the provision of high quality goods and services".

Retailers at Cairns airport will have access to a passenger profile comprising over 4m international passengers, making Cairns the fifth-busiest airport in Australia in terms of international passengers. The airport said it had a specific interest in developing a product offer around local goods as well as national and international retail brands.

"We are hoping to attract a good mix of retail and service partners to support our diverse range of visitors," said Cairns Port Authority CEO Brad Geatches. "We want to hear from experienced businesses, large or small, who think they can satisfy the needs of our passengers and visiting public but also add something special or unique to the airport experience."

DFNI Asia understands that the duty-free concession, currently held by The Nuance Group, is not among the opportunities being tendered.

Expressions of interest documentation will be available for download shortly at www.cairnsport.com.au/corporate/tenders and the deadline for expressions is noon on September 15.
