The country's forthcoming duty-free bill will address Bulgaria's accession to the European Union according to local observers
The new duty-free bill for the tax and duty-free trade is expected to address all matters related to Bulgaria's anticipated accession to the European Union (EU). Amendments to the new Bill for Excise that will harmonise the country's tax structure with EU requirements are expected to be completed by November, according to Bulgarian Duty Free Association chairman Radostin Genov.
"As yet we are not exactly sure of the ministry of finance's intentions," said Genov. "We think that we will find the best solutions for our business in the bill, with the expert approach of the new finance minister Plamen Oresharski."
Genov said that the amendments would rectify some of the errors made by the former finance minister Milen Velchev, which he claimed would have disrupted the Bulgarian duty-free market.
The proposals for the bill are due to be presented to the finance ministry by the end of the year.
