New laws introduced in Brazil last month will allow locally-made products to be sold in duty-free shops for the first time, as revealed in Duty-Free News International July 15

Brasif has entered contracts with 17 companies, owners of brands such as Natura the leading beauty brand, the cachaca brand Caninha 51 and shoes by Havaianas and Alpargatas. Local company Caloi will launch a bike to be specially sold in duty-free. Other companies to enter deals with Brasif are: Rosa Cha bathing suits, Yoki confectionery and snacks, Arno household electronics and Lupo the major producer of socks in the country.

Brasif said it expects the change to mostly affect departing tourists wanting to take away souvenirs. The company operates in eight Brazilian airports with 26 stores.
