As revealed by DFNI News Flash yesterday, Miami International airport attorneys have decided to allow the retailer's bid for the duty-free contract to stand despite its late delivery
0Brasif Duty Free Shop has joined the shortlist of candidates for the Miami International airport (MIA) duty-free contract after its initial bid was refused owing to its late delivery. On the tender's deadline day of April 22, the retailer's representatives arrived late due to a delay caused by a security guard. MIA manager commercial operations Patricia Ryan confirmed to RavenFox.com that the airport's attorneys had decided to allow the bid to stand, creating a shortlist of four candidates for the contract.
The airport received bids from Duty Free Americas, Dufry Group and the partnership between The Nuance Group and Duty Free Air and Ship Supply. RavenFox.com understands Brasif has partnered with Florida-based inflight specialist Duty Free World.
Bidders at Miami are competing for a 10-year contract covering 16 outlets across 42,000sq ft (3,900sq m) of retail space. Several expected contenders, including incumbent DFS Group/Miami Airport Duty Free Joint Venture, Aer Rianta International and InterBaires, pulled out of the race amid concerns over terms and conditions.
