Bork to steer commercial development at Brussels

New Brussels International airport owner Macquarie Airports has appointed industry veteran Alan Bork to the role of director commercial development
Macquarie Airports has appointed one of the travel-retail industry's most experienced executives to oversee commercial development at recently acquired Brussels International airport. From October 1 Bork will replace Macquarie's Doug Benham, who has been responsible for the commercial department since January, when the group acquired the airport.Highlights of Bork's distinguished career in travel-retail include several years as Copenhagen Airports director of retail development and founding the Nordic Travel Retail Group, which promotes and defends the interests of retailers, landlords and suppliers in Nordic and Baltic countries. Since stepping down from his role at Copenhagen Airports Bork has worked as a commercial consultant on several airport projects around the world.
Brussels International Airport Company (BIAC) CEO Luc Van den Bossche said: "Airport retail has become a highly-specialised business and Alan's broad experience in this field will be invaluable in developing the airport's commercial performance."
Bork added: "I am very happy to be joining BIAC and Macquarie Airports in a period where exciting times and great challenges lay ahead. Brussels is a great airport and I look forward to working with my new colleagues, as well as the many business partners, to make it even better."
