US retailer Borders has announced it will open a 1,734sq ft (161sq m) store in September at New York JFK International airport terminal five, which handles JetBlue Airways flights. The outlet will offer books, DVDs and CDs, and feature a Paperchase gifts and stationery shop.

Borders vice-president operations Susan Zewicke said: “We are excited to open our new airport store for New York residents and visitors at JFK airport. We are committed to connecting readers with books, and offer travellers the most relevant assortment and a convenient place to discover a new author or pick up the latest best-seller.”

The new store will be Borders’ fifth airport shop in the New York area, which already boasts three outlets at Newark Liberty International and one at New York LaGuardia. The company also has airport stores in Detroit, Baltimore, Phoenix, Orlando, Seattle, Boston, Houston, Las Vegas, Miami, North Carolina and Washington DC.
