Bonardo Travel Retail to help Chocolat Frey achieve "ambitious targets" in travel-retail
Chocolat Frey is again working with Bonardo Travel Retail (BTR) four years after an acrimonious split.
At the time BTR managing director Alain Bonardo said the break-up had left him "betrayed, shocked and surprised" (DFNI December 15 2002).BTR had worked with Chocolat Frey for six years, effectively as its travel-retail sales and marketing arm, helping to establish the Swiss Delice brand.
In December 2002, when BTR was expecting its contract to be renewed, Chocolat Frey took responsibility for travel-retail in-house. BTR later created a Swiss Chocolate Temptations concept on behalf of Chocolats Villars, Maestrani/Munz, and Sechans Swiss Mini Golds.
The new agreement is not a complete U-turn, however, as BTR will now be working only in selected markets. Chocolat Frey head of travel-retail Christina Mattich said: "I wasnt with the company when the split occurred and I believe we are lucky to be together again. BTR is part of the team and will be a tremendous help, although Chocolat Frey will take the lead on the Swiss Delice brand."
Mattich stressed that Valora Trade would continue as its travel-retail partner in the Nordic region, but added: "This year we will share Bonardo Travel Retails stand at the Duty Free Show of the Americas and at the Asia/Pacific exhibition.
"We have ambitious targets in the travel-retail market and we are convinced that Alain Bonardo and his team are the right partners to support us in reaching our target. We are looking forward to a fruitful and beneficial collaboration."
