The proceeds of the sale of the five limited-edition bottles of Bombay Sapphire Revelation will go to charity

Bacardi global travel-retail marketing director Gary Chau presents RevelationIn the exclusive surrounds of the Queen’s jeweller Garrard’s private viewing rooms in London, Bacardi’s high-end gin brand Bombay Sapphire unveiled its latest creation, Revelationa unique crystal bottle designed and produced in collaboration with Garrard, hand-made French crystal maker Baccarat and renowned designer Karim Rashid, and priced at $200,000.

The translucent blue crystal bottle, made by Baccarat, is shaped like a giant gemstone and has 10-facets, each representing the 10 botanical ingredients used in Bombay Sapphire. The stopper, made by Garrard, is decorated with sapphires and diamonds.

Only five bottles have been made, every one unique thanks to the variation in use of white and yellow gold and the cut of the sapphire of the stoppers. Each bottle will be available at a key airport around the world from March 27: London Heathrow terminal five with World Duty Free, Singapore Changi terminal three and New York JFK terminal four with DFS, Dubai International with Dubai Duty Free and Sydney with The Nuance Group.

The Revelation bottles will be prominently exhibited at each of the five hubs for two to three months before being securely transported to the new owners anywhere in the world. Bacardi, the owner of the Bombay Sapphire brand, will also supply the new owners with a year’s supply of its gin. Profits from the $1m sale of Revelation will go to The Smile Train charity, which provides cleft surgery to children in poor countries.

Bacardi global travel-retail director Europe Michael Coleman said: “Travel-retail is a perfect platform for this kind of exclusive collaboration. The channel acts as a shop window for global brands and is frequented by high-net worth individuals who would be interested in this kind of purchase.” At the launch, several sources said that it was possible that all five bottles could be bought by a single individual.
