Some unfortunate exhibitors are enduring the worst possible start to Cannes week as vandals set fire to a truck containing goods for display at TFWA World Exhibition last night. The truck, belonging to well-established UK shipping agent ELI (Expo Logistics International), was parked outside the Palais des Festivals and is understood to have contained merchandise belonging to several suppliers. ELI is now battling to find out what has been destroyed and what can be salvaged.

An ELI spokesperson told TRW the company hopes closed-circuit television footage from the Croisette will help establish how the fire started and identify the culprits. The company confirmed that the goods affected were due for delivery today, but said it was not yet clear which exhibitors had been affected.

Look out for updates on TRW as the story unfolds.
