Birmingham airport's managing director Richard Heard has died in storms that swept the UK

The managing director of Birmingham International airport died in storms that hit the UK on January 18. Richard Heard died after a tree branch fell on his car while he was driving to work.

 

The airport said in a statement: “It is with the deepest regret that Birmingham International airport advises you that Richard died on 18th January, in a car accident on his way to work. Richard was a wonderful person, who brought us strong leadership with a human touch. Our immediate thoughts are with Richard’s family, at this sad and difficult time.”

 

At least 28 people have died in the storms, which affected much of Northern Europe and caused many flights to be grounded.
